Landscaping projects can be as tricky to price out as home renovations. Just when you think you are have it on track, something is discovered that throws a wrench in it. In a home re-model, it can be the existence of mold unwittingly discovered while removing drywall. In a landscape project it can be the huge shelf of rock only inches below the surface that foils your design.

Despite the variables, there are some ball parks that can get you an idea of where your desired project would fall.

Here is what we have found in our years of work:

Under $500 gets you any one of these:

  • A landscape design and/or consultation
  • A basic yard cleanup (no mulch)
  • 1-3.5 hours of a labor crew (3 man crew with one foreman and two skilled tradesmen, + tools and truck)
  • About (150) 4″ annuals delivered/installed
  • 8 yards of mulch delivered, not installed
  • up to 50′ of drainage installed (standard 4″ NDS solid or perforated pipe)
  • A haul away of yard debris

Under $1500 gets you any one of these:

  • An average 1/4 acre lot property spring/fall cleanup including 8-10 yards of mulch
  • 8 hours of a labor crew (4 man crew with one foreman and two skilled tradesmen, +tools and truck)
  • Plant installation of approx. (25) 3 gallon plants
  • Plant installation of approx. (75) 1 gallon perennials
  • Installation of 3-5 screening evergreens 7′ tall (variety determines price and therefore quantity)
  • (3) 2.5″ Shade trees or 7-8′ Evergreen trees
  • Installation of approx. 1500 square feet of high quality sod.
  • About (450) 4″ annuals delivered and installed
  • Installation of (20) yards of mulch only, cleanup extra

Under $2500 gets you any one of these:

  • Approx. 150 square foot paver patio
  • Approx. 200 square foot poured concrete patio
  • About (30) 5 gallon plants (or an entire front of house shrub planting) installed
  • (5) Crapemyrtles 8-10′
  • A larger property cleanup, including (20) yards of mulch; may take 1 1/2-2 days to complete
  • A larger, more complex drainage project with french drain, etc

Under $5000 gets you any one of these:

  • Approx. 200 square foot flagstone in concrete patio
  • Complete front of house landscape renovation
  • Approx. 300 square foot paver patio
